Meet the Coaches

Head Coach Michael Ferraro

Coach Mike is a native of New Paltz, New York. He was a three-time All American swimmer at Southern Connecticut State University.  While at Southern, he was named the team captain his junior and senior years.  He was also named team MVP and Academic All American his senior year.  Coach Mike was also a nine-time NCAA National Qualifer and a four-time Metro Conference champion.  While in high school, Coach Mike was High School, Section 9, Swimmer of the Year and a four-time Empire State Games Medalist.  Coach Mike was the head coach of the New Paltz Seahawks for three years in which they won three championships and were undefeated for two years.  Coach Mike also has coached in Guillford and Madison as well as Sonoco swim teams.  Coach Mike began his swimming career in the town swim team in New Paltz at eight years old, and believes the experiences and friendships made in town club teams are invaluable to future success for all young children.

Assistant Head Coach Shane Pelton

Coach Shane is joining the Trumbull Pisces for his first season.  Shane is a recent graduate from Southern Connecticut State University, where he was a four-year swimmer, two-year captain, two-time conference champion and an NCAA All-American.  Prior to his college career, he competed in his home state of Pennsylvania, where he swam for Upper Main Line YMCA and competed at YMCA Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Currently, Shane is also the new Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator of the University of Bridgeport Swimming and Diving Program.  Congratulations go out to Shane and his 2008 World Champion Philadelphia Phillies!

Coach Marcus Cantu

Coach Dan Freddino

Coach Dan started swimming at age 9 with the Milford Aqua Jets.  Coach Dan went on to swim at Naugatuck High where he broke many state and high school records. He continues to be ranked in the Top 100 in the United States for the boys 15/16 year old category for both the 100 and 200 yard freestyle.  Coach Dan was an All American in his sophomore, junior, and senior year at Naugatuck High. Dan attended South Carolina University and the University of Connecticut. He continues to hold the UCONN school record in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Coach Dan was an All American at UCONN and was a Big East Champion in the 100 freestyle. Coach Dan is married to his wife Jackie and is an investment broker.
